Introduction#

GTA 6 releases on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and for the whole roleplay community one question dominates: will there be a FiveM for GTA 6? Since the summer, the landscape has changed: Take-Two has clarified the content of the launch, nopixel V has entered beta on the Rockstar Games Launcher and a PC release window is circulating. Here is the updated picture, separating what is official from what is rumour.

GTA RP and FiveM in 2026#

GTA RP consists of playing a character with their own life in the GTA universe: police officer, doctor, entrepreneur or outlaw. On GTA 5, this experience almost always goes through FiveM, a platform developed by the Cfx.re collective that lets you create private servers with their own scripts and mods. Important point: FiveM runs exclusively on PC, on a legal copy of GTA V. This is the model that carried the large French RP communities and the streams on Twitch for years.

As GTA 6 approaches, the question is therefore whether this model will be reproduced, and in what form.

FiveM and Rockstar since 2023#

In August 2023, Rockstar Games announced that the Cfx.re team, behind FiveM and its equivalent for Red Dead Redemption 2, RedM, was officially joining the studio. People often talk about a "FiveM acquisition", but the term is imprecise: in its announcement, Rockstar presents the operation as the arrival of the Cfx.re team within the studio, with the mission of continuing to develop these platforms.

The change remains major, because Rockstar once considered FiveM an unauthorised service. In the same move, the publisher broadened its mod policy to include those created by the roleplay community. In other words, Rockstar no longer puts up with RP, it integrates it into its strategy.

GTA 6 without an online mode at launch#

This is the information that changes the game the most. To date, no online mode has been announced for the launch of GTA 6: Take-Two presents the game as a single-player experience. GTA Online, for its part, continues on GTA V, and the publisher has indicated that it wants to support it beyond the release of GTA 6.

Direct consequence for roleplay: no official multiplayer server has been announced for 19 November 2026. RP on GTA 6 will depend on a future online component for which Rockstar has not yet communicated the content or the date.

nopixel V the first RP server backed by Rockstar#

The most concrete signal comes from GTA V. nopixel, one of the most followed RP servers in the world, has launched nopixel V with the support of Rockstar. The server is accessible directly via the Rockstar Games Launcher, without a third-party client to install, and it runs on GTA V, not on GTA 6. A closed beta has been open since 8 September 2026 for around 450 invited creators.

It is a first: a roleplay server distributed by Rockstar itself. Rockstar has not indicated whether this model will be transposed to GTA 6, but it shows that the studio now knows how to host RP within its own ecosystem.

Project ROME still unofficial#

The community nicknames "Project ROME" the multiplayer modding platform that Rockstar is said to be developing for GTA 6. The idea: a roleplay integrated into the game, where FiveM coexisted semi-officially with GTA 5. Several Rockstar job offers, linked to a "Creator Platform" and to dedicated server systems, point in this direction.

In autumn 2026, Rockstar has still confirmed neither the name "ROME" nor the existence of this platform. These are deductions based on the arrival of Cfx.re and on recruitment, not official announcements.

The PC version expected in 2027#

FiveM, as we know it, runs on PC. Yet GTA 6 releases only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. According to GamesBeat, which cites four anonymous sources, the PC version would release in the first quarter of 2027. It is a rumour: Rockstar has announced nothing.

If it is confirmed, the wait would be much shorter than in the past: GTA V arrived on PC around 19 months after the consoles, Red Dead Redemption 2 around 13 months after. In any case, a classic FiveM-style roleplay is not possible at the console launch.

Conclusion#

In summary: the Cfx.re team joined Rockstar in 2023 and the publisher now openly supports roleplay, to the point of distributing nopixel V on its own launcher. On the other hand, GTA 6 will release with no announced online mode, Project ROME remains unofficial and the PC version is only a rumour for early 2027.
